Breath and Relaxation Workshop - 6.30- 8.30pm, 3rd July at The Greenhouse

Whenever I finish a class or a workshop people always want more of the breath work or more of the relaxation/ yoga nidra so finally I am running a workshop dedicated to these two aspects and I am really looking forward to it.

We will spend time exploring the natural breath, expanding and gaining some 'control' over the breath so as to increase our vitality, increase our prana and bring us to a wonderful stillness for a relaxation or yoga nidra. 

Sounds a yummy way to unwind after a week doesn't it? Even if you are going straight out afterwards, there is nothing like some breath and relaxation to give your face a soft, relaxed glow... better than botox.

Breathe Life into Summer Video

Our workshop was such a success, it was an absolute joy to teach and so lovely for Selina and I to be holding the space whilst pregnant. I felt like Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee in our white T shirts with our rosy cheeks! 

I'm posting a video of the sequence we did in the workshop, although I left out the inversion that was mentioned at the start, by the time it came to filming the end, it no longer felt comfortable for me to demo. You don't need it to enjoy a full and invigorating practice. 

The aim is to help beginners start to build a daily practice... I hope it helps and I hope you enjoy it.

Breathe Life into Summer Workshop

After the success of our Breathe Life into Winter workshop, Selina and I are back to The Greenhouse for another wonderful day or yoga, fun, laughter and life design.

BREATHE LIFE INTO SUMMER        The Greenhouse N16              10th May 1.30-6pm

I will be guiding a two hour workshop designed to give you an uplifting, invigorating daily personal practise to carry you through the summer months. You will have the opportunity to work on it in pairs, assisting each other to memorise and really help implant the practise in your brain. As I did with the winter warmer, I will also record the series as a little reminder for you to follow at home.  

Selina will be guiding the group through exercises to help define what makes us happiest in our lives, what we should include more of and how we can fit these interests or aspects of our lives into our weekly routines. Selina is an expert in her field and you are guaranteed to come away from her workshop feeling inspired, motivated and encoraged but also with a realistic plan to help implement changes.

10 Minute Wriggle Down

A big thank you to everyone who came to our Breathe Life into Winter Workshop. It was such an inspiring afternoon and we hope everyone left feeling ready to take on winter and to get the most from the next few weeks leading into 2015. 

As promised I've made a little video of the ten minute wriggle down. This sequence is designed to get your blood flowing, to get your prana moving and to gently ease you onto your mat on a cold morning. If you only do this ten minute practise you will feel more energised, warm and connected to your body and breath. Chances are that after doing this you will be far more inclined to do a longer yoga practise. 

Please excuse the odd error in left's, rights, space and light... the workshop was over a week ago so I wanted to get this out to you before it slips from your mind. I hope you enjoy.

“Breathe Life into Winter"

After the success of working together in India on several retreats myself and the wondrous Selina Barker are creating a one day workshop.  

With winter around the corner and the year coming to a close we feel its time to snuggle on down in the warm with loved ones, eat nourishing stews and reflect on the year that's past, whilst making plans for the future.

So this got us thinking. How lovely would it be do to a day workshop in which you do just this? How wonderful to have a plan brewing before you get to January and try to jump right in to the 'new you'.

So this is what we've cooked up for you...

A delicious and uplifting winter's afternoon of yoga, meditation, inner reflection and lifestyle designing.

* Yoga Workshop *

The day will start with 2 hours of yoga with Annabel, where you'll snuggle down to the kind of yoga practise you would do on a cold winters morning. Where you keep your socks on until you've wriggled your way through a fair few downward dogs and got some warmth flowing, and where you spend as much time meditating in a cuddly blanket as possible. Your aching, chilly bones will be gently coerced into co-operation with every joint receiving a well needed oil and every muscle re-wakening again.

You will take away from the day a gentle series that can then carry you through the darker months and warn away the winter blues.

* Life designing workshop *
With the yoga having got you into a lovely reflective mood, we'll then snuggle into a two hour lifestyle designing workshop where Selina will guide you through reflective and thought-provoking exercises where you will be able to take the time to really review the year that has just passed, focusing in on the things you are most grateful for and identifying the lessons that you've learnt along the way. You'll then turn your attentions to the year that is to come and start dreaming and planning what you'd like the year ahead to be all about.

We want you to go away at the end of the day feeling uplifted, nourished and delicious and looking forward to the year that lies ahead.

New Classes at Greenhouse, Newington Green

Really excited to start my new classes this week at Greenhouse, 49 Green Lanes, N16 9BS.

Its such a lovely space, I'll be hanging out there afterwards to do my admin, chat to friends and grab a healthy salad.

Class times:

1-2pm Wednesdays

5.45-7pm Thursdays

10-11am Fridays 

All equipement is provided so you can just pop along at the drop of a hat. There aren't showers but I don't intend to make you sweat too much ;-)

Shiny Happy Teeth!

OOOhhhh oh oh, I've just started oil pulling, an ancient Auryvedic technique for oral hygiene and detoxification. If you haven't heard of it, have a little look at this article in Mind Body Green (click the arrow to the right of the heading). I used a tablespoon of pure coconut oil, you swill in around your mouth and between your teeth for up to twenty minutes, then you spit it out so that you don't swallow the toxins and bacteria. I've tried it a few times now and my breath is fresher and my teeth feel fantastic, its a hell of a lot easier than flossing!

New Classes Starting at The Greenhouse Stoke Newington

So as well as my weekly Tuesday class (7.30-9pm) at the wonderful London Fields Yoga  I now have 3 more weekly classes to add to my schedule. 

The space itself is really exciting. Its a multi functional desk share workspace with a healthy fresh food cafe, lots of exciting spaces to chill, have meetings, research, network and entertain.

Green plants hang from the ceiling and natural light floods through the sky lights creating a beautifully uplifting, inspiring work environment. There is even a tree swing that plays music.. I’m yet to experiment with it but it looks great. 

The yoga/ pilates space can hold 12 comfortably and all mats and equipment are provided. We also have the beautiful Yumiko offering bespoke facials and massages. My classes will run on a Wednesday lunchtime 1-2pm, Thursday evening 5.45- 7.15pm and then Friday mornings 10-11am.

There is no need to book, classes will be £10 per hour, £13 for 90 minute session.  Discounts will be given to seat holders. The space is still brand new but my classes will be rolling from 15th October so come and check it out. <3



That took some time

Wow, what a journey I've been on since June, life spiralled into a whirlwind of falling in love, working too hard, saving money and ticking big goals off my bucket list.

I've just had the most amazing road trip up the west coast of America, from Mexico, LA, Palm Springs all the way through Santa Monica, Santa Barbara, Big Sur (wow) to San Francisco and then Burning Man Festival. The whole trip was mind blowing  I fell in Love with LA, its so easy to live a healthy lifestyle when you are in the sun with no work commitments and a juice bar on every corner.

Now back to London life, autumnal colours and preparation for winter. I find it a challenge to stay healthy in the darker months, a packet of biscuits and a cup of tea seem so appealing when its grey, cold and raining. So, how to keep the summer glow? 

Top of my list is re booting my practise after travelling and loosing rhythm. As well as my usual classes at London Fields Yoga I have been warming my bones at Fierce Grace. They have an offer for people who are brand new- £35 unlimited classes for a  month. Its great if you are looking for exercise in a fun environment, and want to feel warmed and detoxified. Although it doesn’t really tick all my boxes in terms of a spiritual practise, it is fun and you do feel great afterwards.
